Program Listings

Our fall programs run from September/October until December. Most of our programs are 1-hour sessions on Saturday and Sunday, and are based out of the Burnaby Winter Club. Registration opens by the middle of August. We offer skill-specific programs, including Stride & Edge; Dekes & Dangles; Battle & Compete; and Defence Clinics. These are great development sessions that complement your in-season team training. We offer a few different times for each program to help work around your minor hockey schedule. We also run Fall Rascals at the Burnaby Winter Club. Please scroll down for more information and to register.

Space is limited and these programs will fill fast. If the program you would like is full, please email us with the program name to be added to the waitlist.

Fall Battle & Compete

During our Fall Battle & Compete Clinic, players will be working through situations that are transferable to game play. Each ice time, players will engage in drills that force them to be adaptive in their thought process from both sides of the puck. Body, stick, and puck placement play a critical role in forced outcomes of game situations. This clinic is suitable for all player positions and is recommended for those looking to understand the offensive and defensive perspective in a multitude of game situations.

Our Defence Clinic will focus on specific skill work catering to defensive players. The clinic will cover power skating, positional play, puck control, shooting, and checking and compete drills.

Fall Dekes & Dangles

The Dekes & Dangles Clinic is one of our most popular development programs. Players are challenged to execute lateral moves, change of speed, creativity, and to develop greater confidence with the puck on their hockey stick. This clinic is going to help players create more offensive plays and benefit players in games by having the puck on their stick around the net more often. We will spend a great deal of time teaching skills such as skating at full speed with the puck, attacking defenders, and understanding how to evade a check, protect the puck, or execute moves.

Fall Jr Steelers

The Jr Steelers Hockey Program uses the game of hockey to develop respectful and responsible athletes that compete with a will to win. The Jr Steelers program will give players experiences that build their foundation of discipline, leadership, and team work. Throughout the course of the spring season, players are able to build lifelong relationships with teammates that share the same passion for the game of hockey.

The Jr Steelers Hockey Program has been running since 2006. The program has both AAA and AA teams in multiple age groups. Teams practice two to three times weekly and participate in tournaments in the spring.

The program offers no morning practices, limited weekend practices, and schedules that encourage players to participate in other sports and or other activities away from hockey.

Fall Tryouts for the Jr Steelers spring teams are now open for registration. Please view the registration information below.

Fall Exclusive Best on Best

The Exclusive Best on Best is a fun-oriented scrimmage. This fast-action hockey game with limited faceoffs is played on a ¾-sized ice sheet. Players are encouraged to pass the puck in a "give and go" environment. There’s no pressure for this game, just plenty of fun!

Fall Power Skating

Our Power Skating Clinics offer an opportunity for the minor hockey player to improve their skating skills. Through correction and repetition, these programs provide comprehensive instruction on all aspects of skating. From basic skating posture and stride efficiency to lateral quickness and acceleration, these clinics will address all techniques that are required to play the game of hockey.

Fall Prospects

The Prospects program was started out of a need for great development for female hockey at an affordable price. In using the same level of coaching that we have with our Jr Steelers spring hockey program, we have transferred that success to the girls’ side. During our 2015 season, our flag ship team of 2002/2003 girls placed 1st in the Pacific Spring Showcase and won almost every game of their season. Now, younger girls have great role models to look up to as they chase their hockey dreams.

Fall Rascals Learn To Play Hockey

Our Fall Rascals Learn to Play Hockey Program is the largest Learn to Play Hockey Program in Western Canada. Last year, we had over 100 Rascals join our program! The Rascals program features a fun environment where kids are challenged with games and drills according to their rascal grouping. The players are placed in smaller groups on the ice with kids of comparable ability so that everyone gains confidence and can interact with each other at a similar level. Not only do kids grow their hockey skills, but they also make tons of new friends, develop their social skills, grow confidence, and, of course, have a ton of fun. The BWC program runs on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are no early morning ice times or inconvenient hours. So what are you waiting for? We hope to see you out on the ice this fall.

The focus of this program is to combine learning to skate and learning to play hockey. Players must be able to stand and glide forward on the ice to participate in the program. Full hockey gear is required. We recommend that players complete at least 2 skating levels prior to registering.

Not sure which level to register in? Don't worry! The Rascals instructors will place your child in an approximate level (based on age and skill) and then assess them during the first couple of sessions to ensure they're in the appropriate level. Generally, if they have completed a level, they will be moved into the next level (i.e. if they completed Rascals 2, they will be in Rascals 3 next).
